Anti-Drug Department Cracks Down on Drug Operations, Arrests Four and Seizes Over 16 Kg of Drugs

PHNOM PENH, June 4, 2024 – Following directives from General Sar Thet, National Police Commissioner, Lt. Gen. Bun Pa Marilux, Deputy Commissioner General in charge of the Anti-Drug Department, and Lt. Gen. Prum Santhor, Deputy Commissioner General in charge of anti-drug operations, a significant drug bust was conducted on May 31, 2024.

The operation, led by the specialized force of the Anti-Drug Department's Office 4, in collaboration with the Phnom Penh Municipal Commissioner and the Kandal Provincial Commissioner, was coordinated by Deputy Prosecutor Kardenna of the Kandal Provincial Court. The team targeted two locations: one in Prek Ho Lech, Takhmao City, Kandal Province, and another at De Bless Condo, Chroy Changva, Phnom Penh.

During the raid, four Cambodian nationals were arrested: Sa Razan, 30; Samat Sat, 27; Hay Sokha, 37; and Sao Sovann, 45.

The police seized a substantial amount of drugs and chemicals, including:

Methamphetamine (MDMA): 14,945.71 grams

Methamphetamine (WY): 85.64 grams

Methamphetamine (ICY): 1,048.60 grams

Ketamine: 66.70 grams

Chemicals totaling 686,871.52 grams (approximately 686.87 kg)

In total, the seized drugs weighed 16,146.65 grams (over 16 kg). Numerous tools and materials related to drug processing were also confiscated.

The suspects are currently being questioned, and a case is being prepared for submission to the Kandal Provincial Court for legal proceedings.
